It is also known as the portia tree, pacific rosewood, and Indian tulip tree. It is a medium-sized tree grows to height between 6 and 10 metres with alternating, spirally-arranged ovate or oblong leaves. It is adapted for growth in an island habitat and is native to tropical coastlines.
Medicinal properties
The bark, roots, leaves, blossoms, and fruits of the portia tree are among the plant parts used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments, including pleurisy, cholera, colic, fevers, herpes, urinary tract infections, abdominal swellings, rheumatoid arthritis, skin conditions, and colds. Tannins are found in the bark.
