Cannon ball tree is a medium-sized tropical  tree that grows up to 25 meter  tall.  It is also known as Sal tree .It originates in southern India. The flowers  are large, waxy, and strongly scented  . Fruit is huge and spherical, and  has a rusty appearance  which hanging in clusters  like balls on a string. The fruit contain small seeds which is white, unpleasant smelling and edible.   

Medicinal properties

The plant parts, including the stem, flower , and leaves, are used as medicines to treat numerous diseases.It contains oils, keto steroid, glycosides, and phenolic substances.  It possess antibiotic, analgesic properties . It has been used to treat pain, hypertension, inflammation, the common cold, stomachache, wounds, malaria, and toothache. Cannon ball tree extracts showed antibacterial efficiency  against a range of human pathogenic microorganisms.
