The Laboratory of Polymer Analysis (LPA) has three pronged activities namely the testing services, basic research and the product oriented programmes.

The laboratory provides testing services to the internal and external customers strictly adhering to the quality management policy of the institute. The laboratory analyzes hundred of samples every month and generates a reasonable amount of revenue.

The current basic research activities of the laboratory are centered on the development of smart polymers and nano scale materials for drug delivery and biomolecular sensing. Here main focus is to develop targeted drug delivery vehicles for the killer diseases like cancer and nanosensors for clinically relevant molecules as quick and affordable diagnostic tools.

The product oriented programmes of the laboratory include the modification of delicate medical devices like intra ocular lenses for better biocompatibility, development of visible light induced in situ gelling polymers removable from the application site by temperature manipulation and antibacterial coatings.
