Documenting cause of death among Tribal population through automated verbal autopsy using Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

A study on reproductive rights and choices among young women (18-28 Years) in Trivandrum District, Kerala".

I have teaching experience for more than 12 years at AMCHSS, and I guided 17 MPH dissertations and co-guided four. I am a PhD guide in my department and presently guiding 2 students. I was part of the doctoral advisory committees of eight PhD students in the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, SCTIMST, five of whom completed their PhD and degree awarded.

My research experience begins with the position of a statistician in population-based cluster-randomized cancer screening trials in different institutions in collaboration with the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO). My PhD work was based on a cancer screening trial in Dindigul District with IARC/WHO support. The PhD study title is "Evaluation of socio-demographic, reproductive and screening-related factors on risk of and survival from cervical cancer in rural South India". I conducted one study titled "A study on reproductive rights and choices among young women (18-28 Years) in Trivandrum District, Kerala", with the support of the Ford Foundation. Another major study in which I was part of the investigators was the "Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Kerala (co-investigator), conducted by AMCHSS and Kerala State health Services department. I have a first-author publication from this research. Presently I am conducting a project titled "Documenting cause of death among the tribal population through automated verbal autopsy using Information and communication technology (ICT), supported by DST- Grant in aid- "Tribal component plan".

In addition, as a statistician, I am involved with several studies as a co-investigator and data analyst and provide statistical consultancy to researchers in the health science discipline. I reviewed articles for more than 15 national and international journals.
